When a set of LED indicators is mounted, resistors can be chosen, but a better solution is to place a load-independent relay. This always works well and is easy, quick and without adjustments. With Honda this is a 4-pin connection. The relay is in most cases mounted in the rear cockpit. We are always ready to answer any questions on this point.

Why a load-independent relay?

These relays are plug-and-play, there is no need for soldering or other adjustments. This means that mounting is simple, and can also be easily undone if desired.

Why no resistors?

In our view, resistors are a solution that is only useful in case there is no relay present (in some motorcycles this is incorporated in the dashboard) or when no load-independent relay is available for the model (as with many Ducati's and Aprilia's). Resistors have two major drawbacks: firstly, they convert electricity into heat, which is not only an unnecessary waste but can also damage the part they are sitting against, and secondly, in many cases they must be soldered in place or from specific connectors are provided, making it extra effort.

An additional disadvantage is that resistors are specific per flashing light set (because each flashing light has a different resistance) and with further adjustments it is necessary to reconsider what the correct resistance is.
When mounting a model-specific load-independent relay, the motor does not experience any of the disadvantages mentioned.
