The Chemical Guys Light Clay Bar is the safest and most effective way to remove contamination from paintwork. Flex-Clay technology easily removes light spray dust, railway dust, brake dust, contamination and oxidation.

How does Detailing Clay work?

Over time, pollution and oxidation build up in the pores of the paint. We're not talking ordinary dirt that you can remove with washing, but hard or tough components that are firmly adhered to the paint.
This layer ensures that both the color and the appearance of the paint do not appear out as they should. Compare it with a mirror: in a dirty mirror you see the reflection distorted and blurry.
Your paint works like a mirror: the glass layer is the clear coat, the reflective back is your color paint layer. Light falls through the clear coat and is reflected by the color layer, after which it reaches your eye as, for example, 'metallic green'.
If there is dirt on the mirror, the color is less visible and therefore shows less well.

With Detailing Clay you can clean this stubborn pollution and light can penetrate into the paint properly, showing a true reflection of the colour instead of a distorted one.

Clays and waxing

Many people do not clay their paint before waxing it. The result is that you apply an expensive wax over pollution, and thus protect pollution against ... pollution. Clay your paint after washing, so that you actually apply the wax on the paint, instead of on pollution.

Washing-clay-waxing step-by-step guide

1. In case of heavy soiling: pre-wash the paint with foam to loosen dirt.
2. Wash the paint thoroughly with an All Purpose Cleaner (APC), such as AllClean+, in combination with a high-suds shampoo, such as Mr. Pink.
3. Take a piece off the clay bar and spray it with Clay Luber. Make sure your clay is always sufficiently lubricated so that it does not stick on the paint.
4. Now clean the paint in long strokes, running the length of the motor. Continue until the paint is smooth to the touch.
5. Wipe off residue with a clean microfiber cloth, such as the Peluche Verde. Work per panel, do not allow the Clay Luber to dry on the paint. There's no harm in letting it dry, it's just harder to remove.
6. Thoroughly dry all panels and now apply the wax. Two recommendations for this are Collinite 845 Insulator Wax and Chemical Guys HydroSlick Ceramic Wax.

Always work cleanly and make sure that no sand or other hard dirt can get into the clay. Clean thoroughly and carefully. Always throw away your clay immediately if you drop it or if sand has unexpectedly got into it.
