How does this EJK work both the Monster S2R 800 and 1000?

Easy: it's the smart piece of EJK. The EJK module is load-based and hence less model-dependent. Most modules are Alpha-N tuning: they use an Excel-style mapping with RPM and Throttle Position to decide which value to modify the fueling with. Clever but dumb at the same time, as it's not flexible.

The EJK is load-based, adjusting the fueling according to the engine's load, which makes it much more universally applicable. It will work equally well on the S2R 800 and the S2R 1000.

What is the EJK?

The EJK (Electronic Jet Kit) module is a piggyback tuning module for motorcycles with Electronic Fuel Injection. It is installed between the vehicle computer (ECU) and the fuel injectors, altering the signal from the computer to the injectors in order to improve the bike's performance and fuel response. 

Most bikes come from the factory with sub-optimal fueling. They are tuned to the needs for environmental approval, not for optimal driving. And the ECU's are a closed system, you can't change anything to it as user. The EJK injection module changes that, allowing you to make small changes and giving you a stable platform to optimize your bike.

What makes the EJK stand out?

VCA SW PTRepresents transition between factory open loop and closed loop. When the LED display shows a solid BLUE light in the 8th position then the controller is interfacing with the ECU closed loop mode. Mode rarely needs to be adjusted.
CLOSED LOOP FUELFeature allows fuel adjustment when the VC zone is active. Feature implements an indirect fueling method where the O2 signal is being manipulated which causes the ECU to make fuel changes. Only affects fueling while ECU is in closed loop mode.
VC OFFSETVoltage Control Offset. Given a sensor input signal between 0-5 volts this feature will offset the voltage a varying amount.
MAX BOOST PRESSURERepresents the maximum amount of boost pressure the vehicle can produce.
MAX PRESSURE FUELFeature allows fuel adjustment when Pressure zone is active.
