The history behind EJK – from Dynojet to Dobeck Performance

The EJK (Electronic Jet Kit) does not just appear out of nowhere. Behind this product is the rich history of tuner and inventor Mark Dobeck, the man who previously founded the iconic Dynojet.

The early years – Dynojet and the Power Commander

In the 1970s, Mark Dobeck started as a race mechanic tuning carburetors for motorcycles. His solutions and innovations led to the founding of Dynojet Research, the company that later became world-famous for the PowerCommander. This device set the standard for fuel injection tuning: a piggyback controller that allowed motorcyclists to tune their engines more precisely than ever before.

A new step – Dobeck Performance

After leaving Dynojet, Mark Dobeck founded Dobeck Performance. There, work was done on a simpler, user-friendly fuel controller: the EJK (Electronic Jet Kit). The goal? To make tuning accessible to every motorcyclist, without a laptop or dyno. With three buttons and an LED display, you can adjust the EJK yourself immediately, on the road or in the garage.

Gen 3 vs. Gen 3.5 – America and Europe

The first generation, Gen 3, was developed for the American market. There, low-octane fuel is often available, so the module could only add fuel to enrich lean-running engines.

For the European market, the Gen 3.5 was developed: tuned for Euro 95 and Euro 98 fuels. This version can both add and remove fuel, allowing correction of overly rich mixtures as well. Ideal for Euro-spec motorcycles and a perfect base for those making exhaust or filter modifications.
These are still developed in the Netherlands today, ensuring the latest data is included.

Today

Dobeck Performance remains true to Mark Dobeck’s original philosophy: practical and affordable tuning solutions. The EJK is the prime example – a modern “jet kit” that lets you easily optimize your fuel-injected engine.
